More Color in my Yard

It amazing the things that bloom around here. Last year when we moved in, we had missed all the blooms, and blossoms and this year has been fun seeing everything bloom, so here are some more pictures of the "color" in my backyard. The purple tree on the left is a flowering plum, and the white blossoming tree is a flowering cherry, and thankfully they don't produce any fruit. The apple tree is hard enough to deal with.

This is a forsythia bush ( I think I spelled that right). It is so pretty and full of flowers.

and of course I had to throw in a picture of the tulips out back. I have a bunch more in the front yard, and I love them. I think the lady that used to own this house planted every color of tulip that there is, but I don't mind.
I do have a lot of work to do on the yard, but it will be nice when we are all done. But it will take years to get it how we want it. We have 4 overgrown pine trees, that I want to get rid of, so I can do a water feature and plant more flowering, non-fruit producing trees.
It's been in the upper 7os around here the last few days, so I hope you all are enjoying some very very nice weather too.

Easter 2009

We had Deon's family over on Easter and had a good time visiting. We had the normal...ham, mac salad, rolls, potatoes, etc. Let me tell you...Deon can cook a mean ham....yummy!!
After dinner we went outside to enjoy some sunshine and let me play with the camera again. We didn't get pictures of everyone, because they either had to leave early or were coming later cause they were at other family dinners. In the first picture are (from left to right) Justin, Lindsay, Jolene, Demont, Debbie, Deon and Grandma.

This is Deon and his Dad and Grandma

This is his nephew Justin and his girlfriend Lindsay.

I hope you all had a great Easter. I wish we would have been able to celebrate with you all.

What a weekend!!

I love the fact that Deon can fix, install, build, design, etc anything we need, but I hate the fact that when he does a project, he usually gets hurt. At the trailer he did the wood fence and then blew his knee up skiing, then the tile...shoulder surgery and the chain link fence up front of the trailer, a really really bad bloody nose that required having to go to a specialist. It's awful, but hasn't changed getting into a house. Last Sunday, he finished putting in our new doors, and Friday....we had to run him to the VA Hospital Emergency room. While we was putting in the doors, he knelt on something that caused a microscopic cut on his left knee...by Friday, his leg was swollen from the knee down, and red and hot to the touch. They gave him an iv, and he got to keep it until Sunday morning. Both Saturday and Sunday we had to go clear back up to the VA and get his IVs done. I am thinking that I am going to have to learn how to do some home improvements so that Deon don't have to do it and get an injury. LOL...just kidding!! We want the home improvements to be done right, I am not sure I can get them done right. Thankfully they removed the iv yesterday and he seems to be doing a lot better. It just scares me when the doctor says "either sit and keep your leg up or die from the infection"

Hope you all had an uneventful weekend

Spring??

Well, I posted earlier about the first signs of Spring in Utah...well since then it has snowed twice and been raining for two days now.
But it is Spring in Utah, and if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes and it will change again.
So I went out and took a few more pics while there was a break in the weather. Stormy wanted to be in this picture, so here she is

with some of the daffodils in the back yard, there are also some hyacinths getting ready to bloom. The other pictures are the daffodils and crocus in our front yard. It is so cool to get to see them blooming, when we moved in last year, it was after they were all done blooming.
We have a lot of yard work to do around here, but it will be worth it in the long run. I love a nice looking yard.
Hope you all are doing well, and enjoying Spring!!

1st Signs of Spring in Utah

I got really excited the other day when I went out into the yard and started noticing the daffodils and crocus starting to pop up from the cold ground. The first picture is of the daffodils on the north side of my house and the second one is out in the front yard where the daffodils and crocus are starting to come out.

I know it is kind of a boring picture, but it excites me that the bulbs are starting to grow and will be blooming soon. But we all know that winter is not over in Utah, we get snow clear into June at times.

This is a picture of Myrtle the Turtle who sits just off the back porch and it you look close she is protecting a couple little bulbs that are starting to push through the ground.
I got Myrtle from our friends Gordon and Mary for my birthday last year, when I told them that I wanted to find a turtle to have in my backyard. ( I want a real box turtle or land turtle, but Myrtle will do until I find a real one I can afford, so keep an eye out for me).
Hope you all enjoy the pics and hope that you all start seeing the first signs of spring in your neck of the woods soon too.

My New Tattoo

This is what I did today!!! Oh What Fun!!
And if you haven't figured out who Boo and Bug are, they are my cute, adorable, loving, and somewhat spoiled babies (dogs). I had it put on my right forearm and trust me, it was a little tender there, but worth it. Jason does such a good job, he free-handed it, and it's awesome. He has a room in our basement for now, but it moving into a shop on Tuesday. I am really happy for him and proud of him.
And yes, this is #2 for tattoos, and may possibly get a few more, but only if Jason will do them.
Now it's time to heal!!!

Meeting Family

This is the Leatham family, which is part of my Dad's side of the family. It is my Dad's cousin Wayne, wife Lorna and his Aunt Lucille (my grandma's sister). I never did get to meet my Grandma Sturges, so it was very cool to meet Great Aunt Lucille. Wayne gave me a lot of genealogy on the Barrickman family (my grandma's parents, etc) which was fun to read. We only spent a couple hours with them, but it was nice to get to know them. Wayne and Lorna live in Spanish Fork and Aunt Lucille lives in a resthome in Springville.
